Region I Merit Award

The Merit Award will be presented to an individual in order to recognize outstanding achievement in research administration within the New England Region of NCURA. This award recognizes a seasoned research administrator who has made a significant contribution to the field of Research Administration or NCURA.

It is expected that the recipient will most likely be at the mid- to senior-level with at least five years of experience in some aspect of research administration. The Awards Committee will consider candidates who have made contributions such as the following:

  • Served on a regional or national NCURA committee (with preference to significant regional contributions);

  • Made presentations and/or served on panels at regional or national meetings;

  • Served as a regional officer; and

  • Authored papers in a professional publication in the field of research administration.


Eligibility
Candidates should be a current member of NCURA Region 1.

Nomination Criteria
Nominations must include:

·        A completed nomination form, which includes some basic demographic information, as well as the names of two (2) current Region 1 members, including one (1) who is external to the nominee’s institution who will support the nomination.

·        Nominators should be prepared to upload a single (co-signed) or two (separately attached) letter(s) of recommendation, which include a 300-500 word statement addressing the award criteria and describing the nominee's contributions to the region, the NCURA organization, and the profession.

·        Nominations must also include a current curriculum vitae (CV) which outlines the contributions of the individual for NCURA, Region 1, and the profession.  This document may either be uploaded or a link to a professional profile provided (i.e., personal website, NCURA profile or LinkedIn page).   

Additional information:

·        Self-nominations are encouraged.

·        The form should take about 10 minutes to complete, but the letters of recommendation may take longer. 


Awards are based on criteria listed above, and will be determined by the Awards Committee.

The Merit Award will be presented at the Annual Spring Meeting.
