Outstanding New Speaker Award

This award, presented annually, will recognize an outstanding new speaker whose enthusiastic contributions to NCURA programming have positively impacted NCURA’s educational mission by presenting for the first time at the Region 1 Spring Meeting.

Purpose and Criteria
The Outstanding New Speaker Award will be presented to an individual in order to recognize the commitment to the profession by willing to serve as a vital part of the education and training programs of Region 1 and share their expertise.

The Awards Committee will consider candidates who have made the following contributions:

  • Participated in the educational efforts of the Region 1 Spring meeting through service as: workshop faculty, session facilitator, or concurrent session faculty for at least 1 session;

  • Shown dedication and commitment through excellent preparation for the session(s), including well-developed slides, topical knowledge, and enthusiasm for the topic; and

  • Not been a speaker at a previous Region 1 spring meeting.

    Nomination Criteria
    Nominations shall be conducted as follows:

  • Nominations will be included in the feedback survey sent out after the Region 1 spring meeting. 

  • New speakers will be identified in the feedback survey and nominators will be asked to write 2-3 sentences about why they have selected the new speaker as a nominee.

  • Nomination by 2 or more spring meeting attendees.

The survey response should take about 5 minutes to complete. 

Awards are based on criteria listed above and will be determined by the Awards Committee.

The Outstanding New Speaker Award will be presented AFTER the Annual Spring Meeting.  The awardee will receive a certificate and small token of appreciation from the Region.
